| Remarks: | Starting with the release of the first album ten years ago, sales from the first two A Very Special Christmas records have raised over 40 million dollars for Special Olympics. The tradition continues with this third edition, featuring the hottest artists of today, singing original and traditional Christmas songs (all brand-new, previously unreleased recordings). Special Olympics, founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, is an international program of year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than one million children and adults with mental retardation. Around the world, there are programs in more than 143 countries - including all 50 United States, involving 25,000 communities. The album was executive- produced by A&M president Al Cafaro, his wife Linda Feder, and Bobby Shriver, brother of the president of Special Olympics, Tim Shriver. |
